The working group continued to contribute on a number of fronts under the chairmanship of the Lord Justice Keene. Its report on planning obligations was discussed at a seminar at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors before a distinguished audience of lawyers, surveyors, planners, civil servants and academics. A report on the protection of sites of special scientific interest was also published. The group has contributed to Government initiatives by providing two members for the advisory group reviewing compulsory purchase and compensation and contributing by meetings and papers to the review of major infrastructure approval. Work is continuing with proposals for the simplification of the planning system.
