Each spring the IALS Library team takes to the road to visit law schools all across the UK. The purpose of the visits is to speak to postgraduate researchers, academics and librarians from across the country to highlight the valuable collections and services that the IALS Library maintains for the benefit of all legal researchers, regardless of their location. Many students do not realize that we are the national library for legal research and that membership is free. We also demonstrate some of the online legal research tools maintained by the Institute and made freely available on our website. For example, we provide demonstrations of BAILII, Eagle-i, Current Legal Research Topics, FLAG, and the FLARE Index to Treaties. This year we also introduced researchers to the new LawPORT project, which will see the creation of free online training resources aimed specifically at law PhD students.
In 2015 we visited the University of Aberdeen, Bangor University, the University of Birmingham and the University of Surrey. If you would like us to visit your law school in 2016 please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
