CURRENT VACANCIES

SCHOOL OF ADVANCED STUDY LIBRARIES, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON RESEARCH LIBRARY SERVICES (ULRLS)
GRADUATE TRAINEE LIBRARY ASSISTANTS

November 2009

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the Graduate Trainee Library Assistant posts. From this webpage, you will be able to download the further particulars of all the Graduate Trainee positions available in the School of Advanced Study libraries, University of London Research Library Services (ULRLS). Please note that you must send a separate application directly to each library to which you wish to apply, following the procedures set out in their further particulars. Please note that a completed copy of the University's equal opportunities form should accompany each application.

After the completion of interviews, Librarians may forward copies of applications of candidates whom they have not appointed to other Institute Librarians, with a view to matching candidates with vacancies. This might lead to an invitation to apply for a post at an Institute to which you did not initially apply. If you do not wish your application to be included in this process, please indicate this in your letter of application.

In addition to the extensive training implicit in the nature of graduate trainee posts, some libraries have or offer access to formal training programmes, sometimes with a specific subject orientation. These will be described in the detailed descriptions of the particular library. There will also be a programme of visits and training events, and further information can be found on the Graduate Trainees' Knowhere web pages (at http://ials.sas.ac.uk/knowhere/Home.html). In addition, the libraries have access to the training programme of the CPD25 Group, and appropriate events, including visits to a wide range of libraries in and around London and a seminar on applying to library schools, will be made available to trainees.

A welcoming party for all ULRLS trainees will be arranged during the autumn term.

Kind regards
