LLMC-Digital

The library is a charter member of LLMC-Digital , a US-based cooperative of libraries formed with the aim of preserving legal titles and government documents in microform and digital formats and making these available to legal research libraries at cost, and the Librarian has served on the Board of Directors and is currently a Councillor.

The Law Library Microform Consortium (LLMC) is a non-profit, library cooperative based at the University of Hawaii in the United States, formed with the aim of preserving legal titles and government documents in microform and digital formats and making these available to legal research libraries at cost. The LLMC was founded in 1976 and provides a subscription service giving access to legal and government publications in microfiche format and digital ly online. The service includes: US federal and state legal materials, US military law, Native American law, canon law, Anglo-American legal periodicals, Anglo-American legal treatises, foreign jurisdictions, international law and organisations, and multi-jurisdictional subject materials. The Consortium is converting its filmed materials to digital format and making them available via the LLMC - Digital subscription service, which is hosted currently by the Scholarly Publishing Office (SPO) at the University of Michigan. The service is continuing to build content through scanning initiatives in partner libraries in the USA and Europe.

IALS library has contributed materials from its Commonwealth Law Collection and IALS has beneficial access to the LLMC Digital online service in an arrangement that includes access for the School of Advanced Study, SAS Institute Libraries, Senate House Library and the Law Schools of the Colleges of the University of London.

Remote access is available to IALS and SAS staff, fellows and students, University of London law staff and postgraduate students, and all other academic members (staff and students) of IALS Library using a current IALS Library card or SAScard as applicable.
