International Taxation Summer Course

The International Taxation Summer Course developed by IALS will focus on various international taxation issues such as:
• permanent establishment;
• business profits, dividends, interest, royalties, under tax treaties;
• triangular cases;
• double taxation relief and non-discrimination, beneficial ownership and anti-avoidance provisions, transparency, exchange of information, protection of taxpayer´s rights and transfer pricing.
The course will be taught by distinguished faculty and is open to university students and tax professionals.
Academic Course Director: Professor Marcus Livio Gomes
Professor Marcus Livio Gomes is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (School of Advanced Study, University of London). Associate Professor for the Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes in Tax Law and International Tax Law at Rio de Janeiro State University, Brazil. Leader Researcher of the Brazilian BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) Project Group from Rio de Janeiro State University. Doctor and Master in Tax Law at Complutense de Madrid University, Spain. Federal Judge in the 2nd Federal Circuit (Rio de Janeiro), Former Tax Auditor of the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service. Former Tax Auditor of the Internal Revenue Service (VAT) of the Minas Gerais State. Coordinator and Lecturer of the Tax Law Committee of the Federal Judiciary School of the 2nd Federal Circuit. Former Coordinator and Lecturer of the Tax Law Committee of the State Judiciary School of Rio de Janeiro State Court. Member of the Evaluation, Selection and Monitoring Committee Board of the Brazilian Federal Administrative Tax Court (CARF). Member of the Executive Committee and Associate of the Latin American Institute of Tax Law (ILADT).
