Jstor is an multidisciplinary online archive of scholarly journals. It contains selected arts, humanities, social science, business, science and mathematics journals, published in the United States, United Kingdom and elsewhere. About 100 law journals are included. Some of the Jstor journals are available in full, some as abstracts only. IALS Library's subscription does not cover the books on Jstor.
Jstor concentrates on providing a backfile of key journals, rather than giving current coverage. There is usually a gap of several years between the latest volume on Jstor and the most recent volume available from the publisher.
The Jstor service is a non-profit initiative based in the US, originally conceived at the Andrew W Mellon Foundation.
Basic Search allows you to search across all content, by word or phrase, author's name and other criteria.
Advanced Search allows searching by one or more different fields, e.g. full text, author, article title, abstract. Advanced searches can be limited by subject, date range, language, or type of publication.
The contents can be browsed by subject, title or publisher. Titles outside our subscription, mostly books, are marked with a cross.
'Search help' and a Jstor tutorial are available from the Advanced search screen.
