This database (MPEPIL) is an updated online edition of the printed Encyclopedia of public international law. It is produced by the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law and published by Oxford University Press.

Content

MPEPIL consists of peer-reviewed articles by legal scholars and practitioners on different aspects of public international law.  At the time of writing, 1,618 articles are available, and new articles are added regularly.  The Library holds a print edition of the Encyclopedia which was published in early 2012.

The articles can be browsed by subject, title or author.

 
Searching

Quick and Advanced search facilities are available towards the top of the screen.

Printing and Downloading

The Print button is used for both downloading and printing. It displays a pdf version of the article, which can either be downloaded or printed using the appropriate Acrobat icons.

Help

There is a Help menu at the top of the screen, covering printing, searching and other topics.
