Oxford Scholarship Online is available onsite and offsite to IALS Library academic members. You may search, view and display the contents, full text and abstracts for law books. Abstracts and table of contents for books in other disciplines are available. Users are reminded that is it important to read the legal notice on printing / downloading to PDF, because restrictions apply. You may download or print one chapter or 5%, whichever is the greater, and may e-mail a table of contents to yourself or a friend.
Oxford Scholarship Online (OSO) offers abstracts and full text of over 4,000 books from Oxford University Press. IALS Library subscribes to the full text and abstracts of books in the law subject collection, and has access to the abstracts and tables of contents of OSO books in other disciplines. More than a thousand full text books are available in the law subject collection, for teaching and research, representing a wide range of legal scholarship and research.
Quick search and Advanced search are available. Quick search allows you to search on one or more words in the law subject area, and assumes an “and” operator between the words you input. Advanced search allows you to search by one or a combination of fields for author, title words, keywords and words in abstracts, and you can confine your search to the law books or to all subjects or a selection of subjects.
You can explore the law content with a list of topics or “sub-disciplines”, ranging from company law to public international law. You can also see a list of recent additions and “what’s new”.
Many help files are available: context-sensitive help in the search screens, answers to frequently asked questions, and lists of recently added material. An online tutorial is also available.
