IALS Library News Headlines - August 2004

IALS Library was successful in a bid for matching funding from the V-C's Development Fund for a project to improve and consolidate the Library's detailed manual serial holdings records on Innopac.

Jules Winterton was elected President of the International Association of Law Librarians, for a 3-year term from August 2004.

Jules attended the American Association of Law Libraries Conference in Boston, USA, as a VIP guest and Panel speaker; several IALS staff attended the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians Conference in Edinburgh.

Steve Whittle gave a presentation and workshop session on SOSIG and using the web for legal research at the UKCLE Roadshow at UCL on 10 June; the Library hosted a SOSIG portal evaluation session for JISC on 16 July.

Ms Dilshaad Brey, Reference Librarian at the Brand van Zyl Law Library, University of Cape Town, spent a 3-week internship at the Library in June, sponsored by the Starr Group of international law libraries.

Ms Ginevra Peruginelli, from the Institute of Legal Information Theory and Technology of the National Council in Florence made an extended visit to the Library to exchange ideas on legal information.
