Mr David Phillips: Secretary 1987-2006

David Phillips became Administrative Secretary in 1987, following the retirement of John Boxhall.
He was born in May 1949, and educated first at Preston Grammar School before proceeding to read history at Leeds University, obtaining a 2:1.

David Phillips began his administrative career with Lancashire county council in 1966, moving into the field of academic administration in 1970 to take up a post with the registrar's division at University College London. He followed this by becoming the administrative secretary of the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning (now the Faculty of the Built Environment) also within UCL from 1977 to 1986. He left the Institute in May 2006.
