The Olympic Games are being held in London from Friday 27 July to Sunday 12 August 2012. The Media Transport Hub at Russell Square (see below) will be in operation from 16 July to 12 August 2012. There will be significant travel disruption generally in London and local disruption around Russell Square.
IALS and IALS Global Law Library will be open throughout this period. Normal Opening Hours should apply. Some services may be at risk. Any variations in hours or services will be notified. Readers travelling from a distance are advised to avoid this period if possible.
During this period, the main entrance to IALS will be closed and the Ground Floor inaccessible as refurbishment takes place.
Entry to the building will be at L1 level by the door immediately below the main entrance. This can be approached by temporary stairs to the right of the main entrance steps or by the disabled access ramp leading from Russell Square.

Visitors to IALS are advised to approach IALS via Bedford Way rather than Russell Square if possible.
Russell Square has been designated as the Media Transport Hub for the Olympic Games. This means that journalists will be transported by bus from the hub to the Olympic venues each day. Three sides of the Square will be closed to traffic and the 4th side will form part of the Olympic transport route. It is likely that there will be congestion of traffic and people at peak times - particularly between 6:00am and 10:00am. We are expecting that journeys on London Transport will take longer than usual and are advised to allow extra time - particularly at peak times and from key stations. The set-up of the Media Transport Hub in the weeks immediately before the games and dismantling work after the games are also expected to involve some noise and disruption in the area of Russell Square.
Pedestrian access to the pavements around the Square will be permitted although there may be congestion as large crowds wait for transport. There will be a fence across the junction of Bedford Way and Russell Square to prevent road traffic access but pedestrian access to and from the Square will be possible.
