The Institute has research strengths in criminal law/ evidence and justice. Research expertise ranges across doctrinal legal, socio-legal, law in context, criminology, and psycho-legal approaches. In particular, there are interests across substantive criminal law, criminal evidence and procedure, the criminal justice system, and criminology. Comparative research is also an area of particular interest. The Institute has an outward-looking focus in ‘crime’ research, and has developed excellent links with governments, policymakers, law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders – both in the UK and further afield.
