A delegation from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited IALS recently. Mr Abdulkadir Jailani, Director for Treaties and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was accompanied by Ms Gita Murti, First Secretary for Political Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in London, and Ms Lina Maulidina Rosalind from the Directorate for Treaties and Legal Affairs at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry. Mr Jailiani is leading a task force to review the Indonesian law of treaties and was in the UK to conduct a comparative study of UK and Indonesian treaty law.
On Monday 15 February the delegation were welcomed by Dr Constantin Stefanou, Director, Sir William Dale Centre for Legislative Studies at IALS. During a brief but very productive meeting the group discussed some issues related to the drafting of International treaties and also looked at the training offered at the IALS on drafting different types of normative acts. They also discussed possible sources of funding for tailor-made training courses and agreed to keep in contact and explore future cooperation.
On Wednesday 17 February the visitors were greeted by Deputy Librarian David Gee and given a tour of the Library by Hester Swift, the Foreign and International Law Librarian. They were shown key titles from our collection on treaty law and practice, as well as our holdings of the United Kingdom Treaty Series.
