Title: A Penny for Your Thoughts?: Issues When Mind Data Goes Wild

Speaker:  Dr Paul Lambert, IALS Visiting Research Fellow

Chair: James Michael, Senior Associate Research Fellow, IALS; Chair of the Advisory Board of the Information Law and Policy Centre, IALS

Aspirations and research into mind data and neurodata have been developing recently. This raises issues of transparency, ethics and personal data. However, the laboratory setting and medical environment is about to be left behind as developers seek to release commercial applications in the mass market - far, far away from the reasonable expectations of diligence and consent of individuals. Policy debate is needed in the face of the impending wild west battle for your thoughts.

Dr Paul Lambert is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London and is researching the policy, legal, data protection and privacy impacts of mind data and neurodata. Author: The Right to be Forgotten (Bloomsbury, 2019).

This seminar is free but advance booking is required.
