Description

Online Event

This event is part of the Law Commission’s recently launched consultation into confiscation under Part 2 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. This event will focus on the first part of the consultation paper, preparing for a confiscation hearing, as well as the issue of forum. The event will include a presentation from a Law Commission lawyer, followed by a panel of responses on the four chapters of the report under discussion. These chapters are: Chapter 6, Postponement; Chapter 7, Timetabling and case management; Chapter 8, Early Resolution of Confiscation (EROC); and, Chapter 10, Forum for confiscation. After the presentations, we will welcome open discussion on the topics raised. The event raises an exciting early opportunity to get involved in the consultation process and will cover aspects of the 20 consultation questions posed in these chapters of the report. All participants are encouraged to record their views in the consultation survey throughout the consultation period (details below).

The Law Commission’s consultation on confiscation is open until 18 December 2020. For full details about the project, please see here. For the Consultation Paper please see here, and give your responses to the detailed questions here. For a Summary of Consultation Paper please see here, and give your response to the summary questions here.
