Feminism and Family Law: Celebrating the work of Felicity Kaganas

Feminist approaches to family law have made a significant contribution to socio-legal scholarship. This scholarship has explored the complexities of the social system within which women and children are regulated by family law. One of the leading socio-legal feminist scholars of family law is Felicity Kaganas, whose pioneering and innovative work lies at the intersection of family law and feminist legal theory, and cuts across different areas of family law, from child welfare to domestic abuse to the operation of the family justice system.
The IALS and the Family Law Subsection of the SLS are hosting a workshop on 4 April 2024 in which contributors will reflect upon Professor Kaganas’ work and the impact it has had and continues to have on academic and policy debate and on the teaching of family law. Seven original papers will be presented, and the workshop will be followed by a reception.
Join us to hear these papers that Professor Kaganas’ work has inspired and help us to celebrate Professor Kaganas’ retirement from full time academia.
