IALS Library offers library members a Book a Study Desk service. This service enables library members to book one of 55 individual “socially-distanced” library study desks on the 3rd and 4th floor of IALS Library using an online booking system at home. Once a booking is confirmed, members can visit 17 Russell Square to use the booked study desk and to browse and consult our national law collections on the 3rd and 4th floor. Daily 3-hour staggered slots from 11.00am to 3.00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week are available. You will need the email confirmation and your current IALS Library Card barcode number or your current IALS Library Card with you. You will not be allowed onsite if you do not have them.
You will be required to wear a face covering and follow health and safety guidance and social distancing when collecting and returning your books onsite. The health and safety of our members and staff is our top priority. If you have any difficulty going up the stairs to the front door, please do let us know beforehand by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org so we can organise alternative arrangements for you. Do not come to IALS if you or anyone in your household are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 (i.e. a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a change to your smell or taste) or if you have been contacted by the Government’s Test and Trace scheme. In these circumstances, you should self-isolate at home.
As well as the Book a Study Desk service, IALS Library is also offering academic library members a “Click, Collect & Return” book loan service. This enables academic library members to request books via the library catalogue at home and then come in to IALS to borrow the library’s books. The IALS book collection and return service operates from the Library Enquiry Desk on the 2nd floor of the IALS building at 17 Russell Square WC1B 5DR. It will be available from 11.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Wednesday each week. You will need the email that confirms your order is ready for collection to pick up your books and your current IALS Library Card barcode number or your current IALS Library Card. You will not be allowed onsite if you do not have them. Further details at: https://ials.sas.ac.uk/library. No other library services are currently available onsite and the IALS café remains closed.
