Encyclopedia of law and economics

The Encyclopedia is an authorititative reference work in the field of law and economics. 


The Encyclopedia of Law and Economics is available onsite and offsite to all academic members of IALS Library. 


The Encyclopedia is presented in 10 volumes: 

  • Vol. 1 – Tort law and economics
  • Vol. 2 – Labour and employment law and economics
  • Vol. 3 - Criminal law and economics
  • Vol. 4 -  Antitrust law and economics
  • Vol. 5 – Property law and economics
  • Vol. 6 - Contract law and economics
  • Vol. 7 – Production of legal rules
  • Vol. 8 – Procedural law and economics
  • Vol. 9 – Regulation and economics
  • Vol. 10 – Methodologies of Law and Economics 

There are over 150 discrete entries organised across the volumes and each entry includes a bibliography leading to further reading. 

Each volume is edited by a leading scholar in the field. 


Each volume includes an index. To search for a term across all volumes,  a basic search box is available. The work can also be browsed by the table of contents.  


There are buttons to print and email individual entries. Entries can also be downloaded in PDF format for printing, saving or emailing. A maroon ‘Download PDF’ icon appears at the top right of each section.
