We are delighted to announce the publication of Amicus Curiae Series 2, Volume 6, Number 1, Autumn 2024.
Issue 6.1 (Autumn 2024) of Amicus Curiae Series 2 has just been published. The contributions to this issue cover a broad range of topics. Geoffrey Samuel’s article asks the question ‘What Have Introductory Books on Legal Reasoning Ever Done for Us?’, Justice Dennis Dominic Adjei examines ‘The Conflicting Categorization of Kings and Chiefs in Ghana: The Status of the Asantehene’ while Chris Thorpe addresses issues in ‘Equity in Tax—All Change after 1873?’.
In the first of three Special Sections, Geoffrey Samuel, Robert Herian and Joshua Neoh critically review Luca Siliquini-Cinelli’s recent publication, Scientia Iuris, and Dr Siliquini-Cinelli responds to their comments. The section stems from a recent symposium on the work hosted by Amicus Curiae.
We then continue with Part 3 of the Special Section on Children’s Rights: Contemporary Issues in Law and Society. Two articles are featured: ‘Children’s Rights in the Early Childhood Education Curriculum and Activity Book in Türkiye’ by Nejla Tugcem Sahin Bayik and Ceyda Durmus; and our Visual Law contribution, ‘What’s in a Name? Children’s Rights and Legal Voice within Administrative and Juridical Procedures of Recognition of Same-Sex Filiation’ by Alice Sophie Sarcinelli and Monika Weissensteiner.
We follow this with Part 3 of a Special Section on AI and its Regulation featuring an article by Tetyana (Tanya) Krupiy entitled ‘The Need to Update the Equality Act 2010: Artificial Intelligence Widens Existing Gaps in Protection from Discrimination’.
In Speeches and Talks, we publish the text of Sir Robin Knowles’ recent Advocate lecture, ‘Justice and Access to It’, and our In Memoriam section republishes a tribute to the eminent Chinese scholar Zhang Wanhong (张万红) who recently passed away.
Finally, we have book reviews by Patrick Birkinshaw, Emma Cooke and Ling Zhou reviewing the work of Carol Harlow, Jacqueline Kinghan, Jess Mant & Daniel Newman, and Francis Calvert Boorman & Rhiannon Markless, respectively, and we finish with a round-up of IALS news and events.
