The IALS Visiting Research Fellowship Programme hosts academics and practitioners to undertake research and to participate in and enrich the research life of the Institute. IALS Visiting Research Fellowships are intended to create close working relationships with scholars and practitioners from other institutions in the UK and overseas who are undertaking work within fields covered by or adjacent to its own research programmes.

Visiting Fellow Academic Year 19/20

Professor Valentina Barela, University of Salerno, Italy who is conducting research on competition law and markets, specifically multi-level marketing and cooperation between competition authorities.

Visiting Lecturers Academic Year 19/20

Dr Martin Navias is a Visiting Lecturer at IALS, where he will deliver the 10-week course on ‘Finance, Law and Security: An Analysis of Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Sanctions and Corruption’. Martin is a solicitor working within the City of London where he has a background in banking and finance and a specialisation in anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance. He is also a researcher at the Centre for Defence Studies at Kings College London where he focuses on finance and security, anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing and counter proliferation financing. He has experience in providing anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing  training within government departments and the military both in the UK and abroad as well as providing consultancy services to the private sector. His book ‘Finance and Security: Global Vulnerabilities, Threats and Responses’ was published by Hurst Publishers in 2019.
